The Texas secretary of state has certified Democrat Eric Johnson as the winner of a special election to fill the last eight months of state Rep. Terri Hodge's term.
House Speaker Joe Straus is scheduled to give Johnson the oath of office today.
Johnson, who starts a fresh term as the District 100 representative in January, can now begin dealing with constituent concerns.
Hodge will be sentenced later this month on a federal tax evasion charge. She resigned as part of a plea deal.
